The west coast of France covers three regions that face the Atlantic Ocean. These are Western Loire, Poitou Charentes and Aquitaine. Each one of the regions has much to offer as a venue for a camping or Eurocamp self catering holiday in France.

The most important town is probably La Rochelle though Poitiers is the major city. La Rochelle is a port dating from the 10th century, and much of the ancient architecture is well preserved. There is a mariner where very expensive and stylish yachts are to be found. Oysters and frogs legs are on the menu, washed down by fine local brandy.

The third region on our itinerary is Aquitaine, with more beautiful beaches and warm ocean currents. The vineyards of Bordeaux are to be found in this region from where they produce their famous rich velvet wines. Certainly on the list of places to visit should be Lascaux with its caves containing some of the most interesting cave paintings to be discovered. Biarritz, that at one time famous playground of the rich and the famous, though well past its glory years, is still worth a visit.

These regions are ideal for a camping holiday in France. There is a large number of camp sites and some are literally just off the beach if you don’t mind the sand. Alternatively many can be found inland and even in the grounds of chateau.

Britain reduces travel restrictions on Thailand by allowing only essential travel to the Thai capital.
